What Personal Information About Customers Does Birchwood Lodge Gather?
We use the information to handle bookings, provide accommodation, process payments, communicate with you about bookings , update our records and generally maintain your accounts with us, display content such as availability of accommodation.
Here are the types of information we gather.
- Information You Give Us: we receive and store any information you supply to us by post, email or telephone. We temporarily store details of debit or credit card numbers supplied to us by telephone or fax for the purpose of processing the current transaction. These details are stored on paper and not in an electronic form. Once the transaction has been completed the details are destroyed by passing the paper form through a cross cut shredding machine. These numbers are not stored for the purpose of facilitating future bookings.
- Automatic Information: we receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us. For example, like many websites, we use "Google analytics" and we obtain certain types of information when your Web browser accesses Birchwood Lodge or advertisements and other content served by or on behalf of Birchwood Lodge on other Web sites. Our website does not use “cookies” so no personal information is collected.
- E-mail Communications: We do not receive a confirmation when you open e-mail from Birchwood Lodge so no record of your interaction is collected.
- Information from Other Sources: we might receive information about you from other sources such as commercial websites listing our property and add it to our account information.
Does Birchwood Lodge share the Information it receives?
Information about our customers is an important part of our business and we are not in the business of selling it to others. Birchwood Lodge does not share customer information with unconnected third parties.
- Third Party Service Providers: We employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include processing credit card payments and providing banking services. They have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes. Further, they must process the personal information in accordance with this Privacy Notice and as permitted by the UK's Data Protection Act.
- Protection of Birchwood Lodge and Others: We release account and other personal information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law; enforce or apply our Conditions of Use and other agreements; or protect the rights, property or safety of Birchwood Lodge, our users or others. How Secure Is Information About Me?
- We do not normally reveal any digits of your credit card numbers when confirming an order. Of course, we transmit the entire credit card number to the appropriate credit card company during order processing.
- We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards in connection with the collection, storage and disclosure of personally identifiable customer information. Our security procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we disclose personal information to you.
What Information Can I Access?
Birchwood Lodge does not give you access by electronic means to any information about your account and your interactions with Birchwood Lodge.
What Choices Do I Have?
- As discussed above, you can always choose not to provide information, even though it might be needed to make a booking with us. If you decline to provide information we will not be able to accept your booking.
Are Children Allowed to Use Birchwood Lodge?
Birchwood Lodge does not take bookings from children. If you are under 18 your booking will be declined.

Our business changes constantly and our Privacy Notice and the Conditions of use will change also. You should check our website frequently to see recent changes.
